On Sunday, leaders Mellieha Northenders took on the Brewers with both teams looking to solidify their playoff chances.
The game began with a bang as the Northenders jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, the Brewers wasted no time responding, with Anderson Núñez launching a game-tying home run in the bottom of the first. Núñez’s three-run blast set the tone for the Brewers’ dominant performance, leveling the score at 3-3.
In the second inning, the Brewers’ offense came alive again, plating four runs to take a 7-3 lead. A mix of timely hits and aggressive base running put the Brewers firmly in control of the game. The Northenders, meanwhile, struggled to regain their early momentum, with the Brewers’ defense shutting them down over the next four innings.
The Brewers extended their lead in the third inning when Eliexer Rojas hit an inside-the-park home run, driving in two more runs. Rojas’ performance was a highlight of the game, as he finished with three RBIs, further cementing the Brewers’ dominance. By the end of the third inning, the score was 9-3.
The final nail in the coffin came in the fifth inning when the Brewers added four additional runs to get the game out of reach for Mellieha. Diego Lara was instrumental in the Brewers’ offensive onslaught, going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and contributing two RBIs.
With their 7th win of the season, the Brewers secured 3rd place in the standings and advanced to the National Slowpitch League playoffs.
