The Sliema Patriots secured a 16-6 victory over the Brewers, combining timely hitting and solid defense to clinch the win. Both teams showcased strong offensive performances, but the Patriots’ firepower proved too much in the end.
The Brewers struck first, scoring a run in the opening inning. They rallied again in the third and fourth, with 3 runs in the third and 2 more in the fourth, thanks in part to a solid day at the plate from Renny Gonzalez, who went 3 for 5 with a walk. Despite their strong offensive bursts, the Brewers couldn’t contain the Patriots’ relentless attack.
Sliema’s third baseman Diego Scuro, who was named MVP, had a perfect day at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a home run. First baseman Alvin Barroso also contributed significantly, going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, while left fielder Jorge Acosta and center fielder Gabriel Di Sabatino each went 3 for 4, adding a double and 2 RBI apiece. Their contributions helped the Patriots to a 4-run third inning and a dominant 5-run fifth that put the game out of reach.
Both teams showcased impressive offense, but the Patriots’ ability to consistently capitalize on scoring opportunities gave them the edge in a well-rounded performance and secured the 16-6 victory.
