Recap
Seeking their first win of the season, the Mustangs got off to a hot start. Mark Buttigieg and Kevin Spiteri got on base for sluggers Daniele Palumbo and Richard Borg who drove them in with back-to-back singles. Michael Pitzschel kept the line moving with another run-scoring single to make it a 3-run first inning for the Mustangs. The Brewers countered with a run of their own in the bottom of the first inning and another one in the next inning.
All was set for a big third inning for the Brewers. The Brewers played small ball, got on base and loaded the bases. With the bases juiced, Diego Lara hit a screaming line drive to left field to drive them all in and gave the lead to the Brewers.
The Mustangs, now trailing, cut into the deficit thanks in part to Richard Borg legging out a triple and Alessio Ripanti driving him in. This wasn’t enough though to match a potent Brewers lineup and the game ended with a score of 10-6 in favour of the Brewers. Diego Lara and Emilio Rivas were clutch for the Brewers with their timely hits and RBIs but it was Anderson Nunes who stood out, getting on base all 3 times and driving in 2 runs for the Brewers.
