Recap
In the second game of the opening double-header of the season, the Brewers were determined to end the day with a win.
They got the ball rolling early, taking their walks and scoring 4 runs in the 1st inning.
Facing a 4-run deficit, Sliema got right back into the game, scoring a combined 8 runs! The heart of the Patriots order composed of shortstop Andres Susarra and left fielder Jaime Enrique Brochero Gonzalez led the charge. Susarra hit a bases-clearing double in the 3rd inning to make it a 1-run ballgame. The Patriots continued putting pressure in the 4th inning and with the bases juiced, Gonzalez emptied the bases with a grand slam.
The game was far from over. The Brewers countered with a comeback of their own, starting in the 5th inning. The offense played small ball, hitting infield singles and reaching base via the walk to tie the game. The Brewers had one last charge in them and took a decisive 5-run lead in the 6th inning. Cristian Aponte reached base 4 times and MVP Emilio Rivas drove in 2 runs to help the Brewers split the double-header with a 13-8 win.
