Recap
In the opening game of the National Slowpitch League 2024/2025, the Brewers hosted the Sliema Patriots in a greatly antipicated first game of the season.
The Brewers’ offense erupted early, taking a 5-run lead by the 3rd inning. The Patriots started cutting into the deficit in the bottom of the inning. With Orlando Garcia and Dillon Adams on base, Gabriel Di Sabatino drove a pitch through the infield for a 2-run single. Teammate Jaime Enrique Brochero Gonzalez later drove him in with a base hit of his own. Although the Brewers stopped the bleeding, the Patriots continued where they left off in the 5th inning. Di Sabatino and Andres Susarra singled to set the table for Gonzalez who hit a towering 3-run homerun for the lead.
A 6th inning comeback from the Brewers forced extra innings. The Patriots batted first, scoring an impressive 5 runs in the top of the 8th inning to take a commanding lead. Jaime Enrique Brochero Gonzalez was again in the centre of it all, driving in 2 runs with a clutch single. One out away from victory, pitcher Isreal Rangel got his final out and earned Sliema their first victory of the season. Jaime Enrique Brochero Gonzalez is the unanimous MVP of the game with a whopping 5 runs batted in.
