Recap
The Saints hosted a double-header against the Mustangs on Saturday and both teams took off from where they left off last week.
The Saints led off with back-to-back hits from Jason Ward and Adam Sanders in the 1st inning. Marko Lahtinen proceeded to bring them both home with a long 2-run double and scored later on a sacrifice fly. Down by 3 runs, the Mustangs responded to score 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning with hits from Mark Buttigieg and Michael Pitzschel.
Solid defense by the Mustangs prevented the Saints from gaining any momentum, allowing them to only score 1 run in the next 3 innings. This allowed the Mustangs to take control of the game, scoring 10 runs in the process with home runs from Kevin Spiteri and Efrain Dejan. A bases-clearing double by Matthew Ellul Sullivan then put the Saints back in the game with a 5-run 5th inning.
In the final inning, the Mustangs scored a couple of insurance runs, winning the game 14 to 9. With a solid 4 for 5 performance at the plate, Efrain Dejan was voted the MVP of the game. The Mustangs now look for their 10th win in the second game.
