The Mellieha Northenders bounced back in style last Sunday, overpowering the Mustangs 15-2 to even the National Baseball League series at one game apiece.

The Mustangs started strong, with Dillon Adams and Gabriel di Sabatino setting the tone early. Jorge Acosta doubled in the first inning, bringing home a run to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. Another run in the second, courtesy of Kevin Spiteri’s double and smart baserunning, extended the advantage to 2-0.

Mellieha responded in the third with two runs to tie the game, then erupted for five more in the fourth, turning the tide. The Mustangs battled defensively, but despite Henry Wang’s 56-pitch effort and solid pitching efforts from Kevin Spiteri, Michael Pitzschel, and Efrain Deyan, they couldn’t contain the Northenders’ relentless offense.

Mellieha added two more runs in the fifth and an impressive six-run burst in the sixth, sealing the game. Kevin Spiteri continued to shine at the plate with two hits, while di Sabatino remained consistent with two singles and a walk.

With the series now tied, both teams head into the next matchup with plenty to prove on 29th March 2025 at the Marsa Baseball and Softball field.
