The Malta Baseball & Softball Association (MBSA) is set to launch a ground breaking initiative aimed at introducing Baseball5 to the Maltese education system. From October 6-10, 2025, a 5-day Baseball5 Training Camp for P.E. teachers will take place in Malta, marking a significant step toward integrating this dynamic sport into schools.

Organized in collaboration with the FIBS – Federazione Italiana Baseball Softball and the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), the camp will provide theoretical and practical training to certify P.E. teachers as Baseball5 coaches. Led by experts Andrea D’Auria and Maurizio Balla, the program will focus on game strategies, warm-ups, and hands-on coaching experience.

This project is made possible through the financial support of the Maltese Olympic Committee via the Legacy Fund, ensuring that the initiative has the necessary resources to achieve its long-term objectives.

This initiative aims to introduce Baseball5 into Maltese schools, establish an interleague system, and pave the way for participation in the Malta Invitational Games 2026. The long-term vision includes launching a national Baseball5 league and forming a Maltese National team for international WBSC competitions.

Beyond sports development, the program will promote inclusivity and accessibility. Baseball5’s mixed-gender format ensures equal participation, while its minimal equipment requirements make it easy to adopt in schools. By engaging students from diverse backgrounds, the initiative promotes teamwork, discipline, and an active lifestyle.

The training camp will primarily target P.E. teachers, equipping them with the skills to integrate Baseball5 into school curriculums. Students aged 5-16 will benefit from structured sports programs, encouraging early engagement with the sport.

Additionally, the event strengthens Malta’s ties with international sports bodies, opening opportunities for collaboration with the WBSC and other Baseball5 organizations worldwide.
